2013 - 2014 Concert Season

The Choral Society's complete 2013-2014 season, is generously supported by a grant from The Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, a joint effort of the PA Council on the Arts and the Scranton Area Foundation, and by a Lackawanna County Arts and Cultural Grant, a program of the Lackawanna County Commissioners and the Lackawanna County Council on the Arts.

General admission to most adult programs is $15.00
General admission to most children's/youth programs is $10.00
For most programs, children age 18 and under are admitted free.

A $3.00 discount is also offered to:

We celebrate the 100th anniversary of Britten's birth with a performance of his great dramatic cantata sharing the story of the real St. Nicolas, Bishop of Myra and patron saint of children, seamen, and travelers. Tenor Mark Kratz returns to the Wyoming Valley to sing the role of Nicolas, accompanied by our Symphonic Chorus, Cantare Treble Choir, and Chamber Orchestra. Henry Purcell's symphonic anthems O Sing Unto the Lord and Rejoice in the Lord Alway complete this spectacular musical celebration.

A NEPA holiday tradition!  Welcome the season with a song as our full array of choirs-children, youth, and adult-join organist Dr. Timothy Smith for holiday selections, audience singing of traditional carols, organ show pieces, and a festive holiday reception.  We also collect new, unwrapped, non-violent toys and cash donations for the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves' "Toys for Tots" program.

Our Symphonic Chorus and Cantare Treble Choir join with organist Dr. Timothy Smith to celebrate the recent renovations of both the organ and sanctuary of this great Scranton landmark. Maurice Durufle's Requiem heads an all-French program including Francis Poulenc's haunting Litanies a la vierge noire and the rarely-heard Quatre Motets of Marcel Dupre.

Our Symphonic Chorus again joins with Maestro Lawrence Loh and the region's premier orchestra for Beethoven's great final symphony, featuring a quartet of internationally-celebrated soloists, a mass chorus, and the immortal Ode to Joy.
